Insurance (The important boring bit!)
Without the affiliation to the ARA, competitors are only covered by their club insurance. Therefore all members must be fully paid up members of their club before racing otherwise they are not insured for accidents on the river. Please note this is no different to the cover provided during the BUSA Head Race and Regatta.
Division 1 & 3
Open to all university crews and invited clubs. Categories available to competitors will be similar to those at the BUSA events in February and May. Namely they are:
8o - Championship/Junior
4+/4-/4x - Championship/Junior
2x/2- - One category for each boat type
-
Prizes will be awarded to the fastest crew of the day in each category provided there are more than 3 entries.
-
As in BUSA events, a club may only enter one Championship boat into each category any further entries must go into the Junior category. If you enter a boat into the Junior category, without one in Championship you will race for a time only.
-
If there are less than 3 entries in a category then it will be merged with a higher category.
- It is asked that crews in Division 1 & 3 have experienced coxes because there is a tight bend with a bridge to navigate on the Long Course which has been the site of incidents in previous years.
Entry Fee will be £6 per seat for these two divisions.
Division 2
This year there are two categories being run in Division 2: The BUSA Fresher's VIII's and the Novice's VIII's and IV's.
THE BUSA FRESHER'S
VIII'S:
Open solely to members of a university. These boats may
contain competitors (there will be a men’s and women’s
competition but no mixed crews) of any experience but
they must all be FIRST YEAR UNDERGRADUATES at their university.
NOVICE VIII'S AND
IV'S:
Open solely to members of a university. This year crews
do not necessarily have to be intake competitors and anyone
with ARA novice status is eligible to compete in the Novice
Event. Winners of the Men's and Women's novice VIII's
will be exempt from the pre-qualification races at the
BUSA Regatta in May.
Prizes will be awarded to the winner of each category
Universities may enter boats into one or both categories.
Here is a summary of the events available to competitors for Division 2:
8o - Fresher’s/Novice
4+ - Novice
Any competitor competing in the Freshmen's event in Division 2 may also race in Divisions 1 & 3. However there is no doubling up allowed from entrants to the Novice event in Division 2.
Other Important Information:
All competitors who are members of universities
are asked to bring their student cards with them as spot
checks will be made to insure all novice/fresher entries
are genuine.
