New boathouse appeal

The University of Bristol Boat Club boat houses have served the Club well for over 80 years, but they are now in urgent need of replacement. A new boat house is planned for the same Saltford site, but it will be larger than the two existing ones. The new building will provide space for both boat storage and changing facilities to cater for a large and growing Boat Club. The new structure will also avoid any problems caused by flooding, and it will have reliable security which will protect it from acts of vandalism and potential break-ins.

The Ladies' Boathouse.

The estimated total cost of the new boat house is £600,000, and we hope that work will commence by the end of 2010, with the new building opened by the summer/autumn 2011.

Partial funding is being provided by the University and by other sources, leaving a philanthropic target of over £325,000. So far the University has raised just over £224,000 in both cash and pledges towards it.

It's a race to the finish line...

If we can raise the remaining £101,000, we will have a new £600,000 boathouse at Saltford - and it could be ready to open in 2011. We are now within the last 500m of the course and approaching the Steward's Enclosure at pace. If you can, or know anyone who could help with funds or ideas to raise funds, now is the time to dig deep and make that final push! We would be extremely grateful for your support.

Until 31st July 2011, all donations received will be enhanced by a third thanks to the Government Gift Match Scheme. This means that every £1 you give towards this project will be worth £1.66 - there has never been a better time to support UBBC, so please give generously!

Donations

The club relies hugely on outside support for funding in order to race at a competitive level. The club is at a stage where additional funding will have a direct impact on the success of our crews and the potential for future years.

If you would like to help us develop and succeed in our goals as a club, then one way of doing that is through direct financial support.
